Salaam all,9:2
فَسِيحُواْ فِي الأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِي اللّهِ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ مُخْزِي الْكَافِرِينَ
Faseehoo fee alardi arbaAAata ashhurin waiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahi waanna Allaha mukhzee alkafireena
The Aya says:
Then move in the land four months and know for fact that you (plural) never overburden Allah and that Allah is humiliating the rejecters.
My personal note:
The Aya gives them a reprieve of four months to correct the situation and also to give them ample time to be ready for the time when the break is completed. It is a message to the muslims to always be open in their communication with their adversaries in situations like this.
Translation of the transliterated words:
Faseehoo: then melt/ then travel/ then move
Note: Fa means then or therefore or so. SEEHOO is derived from the root S-Y-HA and it means the flowing water or liquid on the face of the earth. It is conceptually then used for travel and sometimes for fasting because if you are fasting as if you are travelling and not knowing when is your next meal. SEEHOO in this context points to travel and pilgrimage. It means: then travel.
fee: in/ on
alardi the earth/ the land
Note: ALARDI is derived from the root Hamza-R-Dhad and it means earth or land. ALARDI is the earth/ the land.
arbaAAata: four
ashhurin: months
note: the root is SH-H-R and it means the appearing moon. The concrete means known or apparent because it appears as clearly as the moon. It is also used to mean month, because the month corresponds with the appearing moon, it starts with the moon when it appears and the new month comes with the reappearance of the new moon.. ASHHURIN means months.
waiAAlamoo: and know (plural)/ know for fact/ Be aware
Note: WA here is to resume a sentence. iAALAMOO is derived from the root Ain-L-M and it means knowing/knowledge or knowledge of facts. iAALAMOO is an order or a request addressed to a group. It means: know or know for fact.
Annakum: that you (plural)
Ghayru: other than/ not
muAAjizee: successfully pushing back/ capable of resisting/ overburden
Note: the root is Ain-J-Z and it means push away. In concrete it is used for pushing the dirt away and so on. Conceptually, it is used for inability or failure as well as for pushing away. MuAAJIZEE means making the other unable so, it points to pushing away/ back or successfully resisting.
Allahi: Allah
Waanna: and that
Allaha: Allah
Mukhzee: humiliating/ embarrassing
Note: the root is KH-Z-Y and it means being overpowered, emabarrassed or humiliated. MUKHZEE means humiliating and embarrassing and putting in a situation that is bad
Alkafireena: the rejectors
Note: ALKAFIREEN is derived from the root K-F-R and it means cover or bury in the ground, as in put the seed in the ground and cover it. This is then used conceptually for many purposes as in discarding and rejecting as well as burying. ALKAFIREENA are the ones who reject the truth or discard it.
Salaam all and have a great day
Hussein
